I've just recently started tuning in to the Live's on Sundays. So much to take in. This week I went back to an older demo called <a href="https://timholtz.com/demospritzsparklesmudge/?epik=dj0yJnU9SDV1WDdod3EzQXFTTWU1ZmxhMlNhUl9mMGJrTUxrZ20mcD0wJm49MVNBVHBTOTRiMlhOWkdZc2s1bUc0QSZ0PUFBQUFBR0FaOEdr">Spritz, Sparkle + Smudge</a> and followed along with a couple techniques. This is my finished Spritzed Tag. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y-NfNLoYlDc/YCBFnH_byiI/AAAAAAAAGmc/_oR-hrIIxvoSW9svb75IPKYVl85DVU8QgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/A29A7A0E-2A66-4B1C-B27D-9B2E2A0AD8F6.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y-NfNLoYlDc/YCBFnH_byiI/AAAAAAAAGmc/_oR-hrIIxvoSW9svb75IPKYVl85DVU8QgCLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/A29A7A0E-2A66-4B1C-B27D-9B2E2A0AD8F6.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here you can see the tag before I decorated it, along with The Professor Smudge tag.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CqrglN4L9sU/YCBEo0hghFI/AAAAAAAAGmQ/R6_vmrkQF9Y1tNR91gi86DI3PMPT3KWXQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/D567353B-2426-46D1-BA2C-046FFB67CBFE.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CqrglN4L9sU/YCBEo0hghFI/AAAAAAAAGmQ/R6_vmrkQF9Y1tNR91gi86DI3PMPT3KWXQCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/D567353B-2426-46D1-BA2C-046FFB67CBFE.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Before adding colour, I spritzed Distress Resist Spray through a stencil on the upper and lower portions of the tag and let that dry. Next I used several distress inks smudged on my glass mat and spritzed with water to create the colourful background. I dried between layers then added a few droplets of water and patted ry with a paper towel. Then I took a couple of the distress inks and blended a little more where the tag wasn't completely covered in colour. Of course the Resist Spray did exactly that, created a barrier to resist the inks.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZfs_rb35sju77Z2NhyRaCZt_uzEkcpxkmRgvuuV31Y509bC_dg0n8qUu8gtFTNyLJZUO-pi42dzI4Q_KAq4l-k8xDcF1OYqmOV3BnE-49ZUExHXfVVsKTJI_luhyphenhyphennmc8-qpzilw/s2048/F86ABFA0-188E-4B93-AA5A-868C2F6F8CAC.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZfs_rb35sju77Z2NhyRaCZt_uzEkcpxkmRgvuuV31Y509bC_dg0n8qUu8gtFTNyLJZUO-pi42dzI4Q_KAq4l-k8xDcF1OYqmOV3BnE-49ZUExHXfVVsKTJI_luhyphenhyphennmc8-qpzilw/w480-h640/F86ABFA0-188E-4B93-AA5A-868C2F6F8CAC.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">At this point the tag was done from a technique perspective. How's this for bright!!! I'm having a bit of fixation with Art By Marlene if you can't tell by my last three posts :). For this background I simply collaged the whole page with a piece of her Rice Paper then added some white paint through the flower stencil, some stamping along the edges with Archival Ink and black splatters. Easy peasy!! </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pc0fgmEX-50/YBIR3su7nxI/AAAAAAAAGl0/V2XVGFx4XkgFst6XL-nfHv_nChbDcpHcACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/A8630A04-3A7F-4EF2-BF61-E34469FCDD57_1_201_a.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pc0fgmEX-50/YBIR3su7nxI/AAAAAAAAGl0/V2XVGFx4XkgFst6XL-nfHv_nChbDcpHcACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/A8630A04-3A7F-4EF2-BF61-E34469FCDD57_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>This time I tried my hand at watercoloring one of her flower images with her water-colour paints. I need more practice for sure, but I still love how it turned out! After watercoloring I added some dots with acrylic markers and then some white gel pen to the edges of the petals and the dots. I adhered this to my page and used a black Stabillo All pencil around the bottom for a bit of a shadow and then added the sentiment which was first applied to white cardstock and then cut.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x895-zp_i0A/YBIRzz6J63I/AAAAAAAAGlw/Usa5sdV4jrIXQRGbg-v6owFCldaPl8JhACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/737D9F28-A5E0-45A9-B2D6-890B61A62BA5_1_201_a.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x895-zp_i0A/YBIRzz6J63I/AAAAAAAAGlw/Usa5sdV4jrIXQRGbg-v6owFCldaPl8JhACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/737D9F28-A5E0-45A9-B2D6-890B61A62BA5_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>My 6x6 journal is starting to fill up nicely :)</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gbo0gNNMP-I/YBIR39WUNSI/AAAAAAAAGl4/AWN2AcC8VXwDAxbeYHULo_evozpI3hT6ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/BB83913C-8005-4A5E-ABA3-CCF27842401D_1_201_a.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gbo0gNNMP-I/YBIR39WUNSI/AAAAAAAAGl4/AWN2AcC8VXwDAxbeYHULo_evozpI3hT6ACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/BB83913C-8005-4A5E-ABA3-CCF27842401D_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Supplies:<div><br /></div><div>Art By Marlene Products:</div><div>Watercolours: Whimsy & Bright, Bold & Bright</div><div>Collage Paper BM05</div><div>Stamps: BM07, Exclusive Textures BM47</div><div>Mask BM08</div><div>Word Stickers BM02</div><div><br /></div><div><div>Paints: Dina Wakley Black and White Acylics</div><div>Inks: Archival Jet Black</div></div><div>Arteza acrylic markers, Stabillo All black pencil, Signo Uni-ball white pen</div><center><img border="0" class="nopin" height="50" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--KlVPeE2PeA/We-DByXuq8I/AAAAAAAAFt0/MPWAQ6F9KrIhIeuLWgW5-uzH8HTkwZmHQCLcBGAs/s1600/Larger-Signature.png" width="160" /></center>Carolinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13365299036462149691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23461293.post-90739328611630855652021-01-28T11:30:00.000-05:002021-01-28T11:30:04.376-05:00Make the World A Better Place - Art Journal Page<div>So this is what resulted from the second of the two test pages I made on the 6x6 Gel Press. <a href="https://cgirlonmoon.blogspot.com/2021/01/if-you-are-going-to-be-weird-art.html" target="_blank">You can see the first one here</a>. I just had to add a bit more paint to the edges and like the first page, went along the edges with Distress Ink this time. I applied some white and green paint through a stencil, then stamped some little stars and the border in Archival Ink. I love the whimsy style, and though I never thought I'd like die cuts for mixed media, I'm loving them!! This page began with a background I created using a 6x6 Gel Press. It hadn't turned out the way I wanted, it was a test page really and I put it aside along with another one (you'll see next post). So I dug it out, added a bit more paint and some Oxide inks to the edges and got to playing!! I used a few of Marlene's stamps and a stencil with oxide ink for more dimension to the page and also created a border with Archival ink. Lastly I splattered black paint. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUTX751Mpv_yUhQ1xp8yxXBwesVW1yAr1Fv2h94Lc86phUzrBUDmEeLlKAeILu2Qci8FarJBcZqLPmkSwQgLxZDWLps0gR1ARReAmMqIPnkwP6IyN3e0s_EUfnnWMP_Cy9f7b0zQ/s2048/6907F40B-F1B8-4492-8D5B-22E02D478A08_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUTX751Mpv_yUhQ1xp8yxXBwesVW1yAr1Fv2h94Lc86phUzrBUDmEeLlKAeILu2Qci8FarJBcZqLPmkSwQgLxZDWLps0gR1ARReAmMqIPnkwP6IyN3e0s_EUfnnWMP_Cy9f7b0zQ/w640-h640/6907F40B-F1B8-4492-8D5B-22E02D478A08_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I already knew I wanted to use these images because I thought they looked good with the background colours I just needed something to ground her. And with some inspiration I came up with this :). I absolutely love it!!! Loved branching out with the dies. I was inspired by <a href="https://stickydots.blogspot.com/2019/12/from-london-with-love.html" target="_blank">Emma William's card</a> for the cityscape and <a href="https://kath-allthatglitter.blogspot.com/2021/01/simon-says-newunused-product.html?fbclid=IwAR0PtyM9qIVUEX3J7c_89hnMjIZR19kofQhOHfOoevqxRfx6IMPzWvoGL9k" target="_blank">Kath Stewart's card</a> for the colours silver and gold together. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hIRslF9_16U/YAIP9gLn-BI/AAAAAAAAGkA/NTIN83UzorEMj1M821mXZyAV-s1JDQtTgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/2B81C060-86C4-4810-A4EF-D97729EE70D8_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2009" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hIRslF9_16U/YAIP9gLn-BI/AAAAAAAAGkA/NTIN83UzorEMj1M821mXZyAV-s1JDQtTgCLcBGAsYHQ/w628-h640/2B81C060-86C4-4810-A4EF-D97729EE70D8_1_201_a.jpeg" width="628" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I wanted a night scene so the background was created using Distress Oxide Sprays in Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire. I also mixed a bit of Brushed Pewter Spray Stain in there. I love that it added to the dimension of the night scene. The edges were inked with Black Soot Oxide Ink. Once everything was dry I covered the page in a layer of Micro Glaze since I wanted the white and silver droplets to not react with the background. Keeps everything more vibrant. The platters where Picket Fence paint and Brushed Pewter Stain.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CwbYLGrxgD0/YAIQ62Nw29I/AAAAAAAAGkI/tiBn6bBqq58O1lBmokBDx_j6qCf6t95sACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/2D11527D-752C-42B4-BBE6-B82A66113A34_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CwbYLGrxgD0/YAIQ62Nw29I/AAAAAAAAGkI/tiBn6bBqq58O1lBmokBDx_j6qCf6t95sACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/2D11527D-752C-42B4-BBE6-B82A66113A34_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next I went to work on the cityscape. I cut the 2 images four times, 2x from black card and 2x from silver Kraft paper so I could layer them. The silver metallic Kraft was toned down a bit with dabs of Mushroom Alcohol Ink. I sponged the edges of the black card with Brushed Pewter paint and then applied Picket Fence paint splatters. They were layered on top of each other and then I glued one set of two scenes down and another set over top with foam stickers. Lots of dimension! The 2021 was cut from the shadow dies and I did the same toning down with the silver.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kp9wkc4oVQA/YAIQ8jPY0kI/AAAAAAAAGkM/kFqR673uqbwGY2uDdy01VivLQ7LhSG7jwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/F458EC60-EED1-4194-9B07-CE2889B6C19E_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kp9wkc4oVQA/YAIQ8jPY0kI/AAAAAAAAGkM/kFqR673uqbwGY2uDdy01VivLQ7LhSG7jwCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/F458EC60-EED1-4194-9B07-CE2889B6C19E_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>It took me a while to figure out how I was going to add fireworks to the page and then realized I had this 3D Impresslit called Radiant - it embosses and cuts!! The best tip I found was to spritz the cardstock with water prior to cutting and run it through three times. I cut them in gold metallic Kraft paper and it worked like a charm. The only thing I found to be difficult was adhering it. I added craft glue to the centre and edges of the small ones and put a pop up sticker in the middle of the larger two and added craft glue to the edges. They're not completely adhered around the points but the centres are secure so I'm good with that. Maybe someone has some tips for me?</div><div><br /></div><div>I thought the sentiment was perfect for the start of this year. Love how it turned out and it looks great on display in my craft room :)</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisA1g1NJ13HWljBAdeAe1EI2DN6tkQzcrZaGh0NuHAmymlpqIKxJfbBadiC0itBVbN8n9bt3dG3PD7cC2CrOhyi0_swbIJOf_Wx8PAoJtDUVL1D5MncOw76HCjb9dIgx133ZpGhQ/s2048/E7BA2F55-8701-49DA-B94F-DEC53283C010_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisA1g1NJ13HWljBAdeAe1EI2DN6tkQzcrZaGh0NuHAmymlpqIKxJfbBadiC0itBVbN8n9bt3dG3PD7cC2CrOhyi0_swbIJOf_Wx8PAoJtDUVL1D5MncOw76HCjb9dIgx133ZpGhQ/w640-h640/E7BA2F55-8701-49DA-B94F-DEC53283C010_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Supplies:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Distress Oxide Spray: Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Distress Stain Spray: Brushed Pewter</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Distress Oxide Ink: Black Soot</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Distress Paint: Brushed Pewter, Picket Fence</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Alcohol Ink: Mushroom</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Distress Micro Glaze</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Gold and Silver Metallic Kraft cardstock</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Cityscape Die</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Radiant Impresslit</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Alphanuemeric Shadow Numbers Die</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Small Talk Stickers</div><center><img border="0" class="nopin" height="50" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--KlVPeE2PeA/We-DByXuq8I/AAAAAAAAFt0/MPWAQ6F9KrIhIeuLWgW5-uzH8HTkwZmHQCLcBGAs/s1600/Larger-Signature.png" width="160" /></center>Carolinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13365299036462149691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23461293.post-36744541720112653042021-01-10T17:23:00.001-05:002021-01-15T17:45:59.967-05:00Holiday Wishes - Christmas Tags<div>Pinterest is a wonderful thing when you're looking for inspiration - I saw <a href="https://bashfulblogging.blogspot.com/2018/11/25-days-of-christmas-tags-begins.html" target="_blank">this tag here</a> and I had to make some!! The little berries are covered with drops of Autumn Red Nuvo Crystal Drops and match perfectly. So this year I really wanted to decorate a couple Kraft bags and I decided to make matching Kraft tags as well!! I love how they turned out! This is the first set. </div></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_BXXjwpBxZM/X-pXv256CzI/AAAAAAAAGgo/zuY7FvNSKkIj-qmYTqvhh0vBsuKsREeKQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/D888F18C-D54D-45FE-A032-61D4ECB17A59_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_BXXjwpBxZM/X-pXv256CzI/AAAAAAAAGgo/zuY7FvNSKkIj-qmYTqvhh0vBsuKsREeKQCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/D888F18C-D54D-45FE-A032-61D4ECB17A59_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I used the cabin scene and the snowman from the new Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz stamp set Winterscape. The sentiments are from the Tiny Text Christmas stamp set. On the bag, I used Forest Moss distress ink and I used the splatter brush to apply picket fence paint to create a snowy scene. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-giw5hRK5OuA/X-pkPU1SL-I/AAAAAAAAGhs/QslFapryCVYauKnMoYqzRMMiBYkxbljpgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/94BF4B56-C73E-4E1F-BDD1-08FFC50DECEA_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-giw5hRK5OuA/X-pkPU1SL-I/AAAAAAAAGhs/QslFapryCVYauKnMoYqzRMMiBYkxbljpgCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/94BF4B56-C73E-4E1F-BDD1-08FFC50DECEA_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I stamped the snowman in Archival Ink and coloured them in with Forest Moss and Fired Brick Distress Markers and a water brush. I love how Merry he looks trotting along. He has gone to my step-son and his girlfriend to their first home. I combined several techniques from ideas I found online. </div><div><br /></div><div>The background sky is Blueprint Sketch distress ink with a touch of Black Soot to the edges. I sprinkled water on the background and then applied texture paste through the Speckles Stencil to create snow and interest. </div><div><br /></div><div>The trees were cut out of Classic Kraft paper and inked to darken. I applied texture paste for snow on the branches and then applied some Sharpie white paint pen since the texture paste reacted the ink a bit on the boughs. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zWUL8wBHOnk/X9akhOdJ4VI/AAAAAAAAGgA/FQQvSaeTZVI-o4LFuCXINaIs8Qz4c7XrwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/AB094F04-9A75-4FAA-B36B-489EAE03B65C_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1688" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zWUL8wBHOnk/X9akhOdJ4VI/AAAAAAAAGgA/FQQvSaeTZVI-o4LFuCXINaIs8Qz4c7XrwCLcBGAsYHQ/w528-h640/AB094F04-9A75-4FAA-B36B-489EAE03B65C_1_201_a.jpeg" width="528" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The star of the show - Merry Moose!! He was also cut from Classic Kraft paper, sanded for some more distress then I added some black soot to his hooves to darken them up a bit. His antlers were super fun - I used the smooshing technique with oxide inks and then once dry I added some darker distress ink to the tips. I love the little cut areas for his eyes and nostril. </div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uYeRBghnTtc/X9aki4HpweI/AAAAAAAAGgE/jlxV1cjjDCUX6kCOD3AdTENPWrUUT2ilQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/BD8BF5E3-0EC1-473F-A50E-1BABA398ABDB_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uYeRBghnTtc/X9aki4HpweI/AAAAAAAAGgE/jlxV1cjjDCUX6kCOD3AdTENPWrUUT2ilQCLcBGAsYHQ/w480-h640/BD8BF5E3-0EC1-473F-A50E-1BABA398ABDB_1_201_a.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For the snow I die cut some hills and applied texture paste with a spatula so I could get a realistic look. Love how that looks!! After I adhered everything to the background I mounted it on a paper from the Yuletide paper pack. To finish I added a few stars and a quote chip. The inside sentiment is stamped in Vintage Photo distress ink using a stamp from the new Christmas release set Bold Tidings 3. </div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fKy0UI_idRA/X9akcC5EcBI/AAAAAAAAGf8/EV0Z1XPtLsAa8SOr6byircPXbzsxWaCGgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/EC36A03E-A5F7-4F23-9C3B-76412FE4F187_1_201_a.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1576" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fKy0UI_idRA/X9akcC5EcBI/AAAAAAAAGf8/EV0Z1XPtLsAa8SOr6byircPXbzsxWaCGgCLcBGAsYHQ/w492-h640/EC36A03E-A5F7-4F23-9C3B-76412FE4F187_1_201_a.jpeg" width="492" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div>Supplies:<div><br /><div>Tim Holtz Produts:</div><div>Merry Moose Thinlits 663103</div><div>Speckles Stencil THS021</div><div>Bold Tidings 3 Stamp CMS420</div><div>Christmas Quote Chips TH93655</div><div>Distress Inks, Oxide Inks</div><div>Yuletide Paper TH93240</div><div>Classic Kraft Paper TH93585</div><div><br /></div><div>Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste</div><div>Simon Says Stamp Stitched Slopes and Hills Die</div><div><center><img border="0" class="nopin" height="50" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--KlVPeE2PeA/We-DByXuq8I/AAAAAAAAFt0/MPWAQ6F9KrIhIeuLWgW5-uzH8HTkwZmHQCLcBGAs/s1600/Larger-Signature.png" width="160" /></center></div></div>Carolinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13365299036462149691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23461293.post-56719105862718272992020-12-12T13:26:00.002-05:002020-12-12T13:26:46.617-05:00Oh Little Star (shine bright) - Unity Planner Journal<div>I finally coloured up these cute little deer from Unity Stamp Co. I gave them shiny noses with Glossy Accents and the light bulbs and little hearts have some shimmer from Wink of Stella. The snowflakes are Glitz glitter gel through a Tim Holtz stencil, Flurries. I decided I wanted to sort of mimic a card I made with him quite a while back but this time I decided to colour him. You can see the card I made for him <a href="https://cgirlonmoon.blogspot.com/2016/08/weird-is-just-side-effect-of-being.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I did a bit of masking along the edges so I could get the red and black borders and then I lined the inside of the black with Glossy Accents and sprinkled Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter. He made it onto his first page - a 6 x 6 fall layout. He's a character, that's the best way to describe him. He came to us when we needed joy the most this past February. He was born Dec. 23/19 and is a Whoodle - half wheaten terrier, half poodle. He has more energy than any dog I've had and keeps us laughing.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--nRko_bL-IQ/X7mTJZ3Sv4I/AAAAAAAAGek/B9CqaFSpaEs8lBKQctjhpMwdLFHKUBuqACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/DBDBA7A9-F2F0-498A-8CC6-430FF2E905B1_1_201_a.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--nRko_bL-IQ/X7mTJZ3Sv4I/AAAAAAAAGek/B9CqaFSpaEs8lBKQctjhpMwdLFHKUBuqACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/DBDBA7A9-F2F0-498A-8CC6-430FF2E905B1_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I love the dimension on this page with the copper coloured Thickers and the little wooden acorn. This time I smooshed all three inks on my mat, spritzed and dragged my card through all three a few times, drying between layers until I was happy with the background. I used the Halloween Script stencil with Ripe Persimmon oxide ink and added a few droplets of Black Soot and distressed the edges of the page with Black Soot oxide ink as well and I was done.<br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-036wbtYsoIk/X6AOg7mv3pI/AAAAAAAAGcI/Izgcp5XVKpgv5Js5yL69f0cS2UNFSXMJwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/C7741A0E-ED7A-4025-BFF7-8BD65128ED4D.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-036wbtYsoIk/X6AOg7mv3pI/AAAAAAAAGcI/Izgcp5XVKpgv5Js5yL69f0cS2UNFSXMJwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/C7741A0E-ED7A-4025-BFF7-8BD65128ED4D.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Since the images from the Sketch Manor stamp set are mostly just outlined images and I didn't want to have to stamp them separately, colour them and then adhere them I decided to try <a href="https://pushingtherightbuttons.blogspot.com/2017/08/a-tim-holtz-haunted-house.html" target="_blank">this technique</a> by Jenny Marples and it turned out perfectly!! </div><div><br /></div><div>To start, using my stamp platform I stamped the haunted house with Antique Linen oxide ink and let that dry. Now that I had the outlined image, using Antique Linen paint and a small brush I filled in the stamped area. Because I was painting over the oxide inks they did react a bit, but I was okay with that. I applied a second coat and once that was dry, I added some Hickory Smoke crayon to grunge it up a bit. And because my stamp was on the platform, all I had to do was stamp again over the painted image with archival ink and I had a perfectly aligned haunted house!! I repeated the same steps for the cloud and the moon. This is the back of the previous page I shared <a href="http://cgirlonmoon.blogspot.com/2020/06/every-day-is-another-chance-art-journal.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I know Dina says never to look at the back of the collage paper when you're using it, but I couldn't help it and I wanted to use this image as well. I'll try to be more reckless next time :)</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f0FYjFa1uX8/Xuiyd7bbuII/AAAAAAAAGXQ/Rk2rilTFYBcAt2hu7v6zB_p6LD3hmK0XgCK4BGAsYHg/s1440/CB2AA845-29CD-4285-B5C3-A46AB9649519.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="625" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f0FYjFa1uX8/Xuiyd7bbuII/AAAAAAAAGXQ/Rk2rilTFYBcAt2hu7v6zB_p6LD3hmK0XgCK4BGAsYHg/w625-h625/CB2AA845-29CD-4285-B5C3-A46AB9649519.jpeg" width="625" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E4Q7kJGbYws/XuiyeYOxC7I/AAAAAAAAGXU/RacSjoNJAjIG2BQ1IZPv-8zZ9UtT11O8QCK4BGAsYHg/s1440/D58C9F53-EBE3-4357-99BB-9E1D0E617029.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="625" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E4Q7kJGbYws/XuiyeYOxC7I/AAAAAAAAGXU/RacSjoNJAjIG2BQ1IZPv-8zZ9UtT11O8QCK4BGAsYHg/w625-h625/D58C9F53-EBE3-4357-99BB-9E1D0E617029.jpeg" width="625" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GzTHSqgmpeE/XuiyfDC9ZZI/AAAAAAAAGXY/6RpRFi3B97s7FriPe-yA3J9TlTqQPgu4wCK4BGAsYHg/s1440/B45BCE8F-8CC4-4434-A5C1-3875146BDC9F.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="625" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GzTHSqgmpeE/XuiyfDC9ZZI/AAAAAAAAGXY/6RpRFi3B97s7FriPe-yA3J9TlTqQPgu4wCK4BGAsYHg/w625-h625/B45BCE8F-8CC4-4434-A5C1-3875146BDC9F.jpeg" width="625" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimmwWJwBhbgIPyH0BQrQ-teCFSP_UT9IWGx71zOuCBxN7CfFL10Px2zHg_UIPSNgyAk7Fzp23CpQAE0BqZtBnuGv2A2fn7kWU9lMgc5QVIArmRrnc-hif-QDDBugS0kZH9umGOGA/s1440/F67459C0-D10B-4E4A-BA97-92566F1F8D80.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimmwWJwBhbgIPyH0BQrQ-teCFSP_UT9IWGx71zOuCBxN7CfFL10Px2zHg_UIPSNgyAk7Fzp23CpQAE0BqZtBnuGv2A2fn7kWU9lMgc5QVIArmRrnc-hif-QDDBugS0kZH9umGOGA/w400-h400/F67459C0-D10B-4E4A-BA97-92566F1F8D80.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Supplies:<div><br /></div><div>Dina Wakley Products: Collage Collectives Vol. 1, Fractured Circles stencil, Paints in Fuchsia, Elephant and Turquoise, Lemon Gloss Spray, Black Scribble Stick </div><div><br /></div><div>Tim Holtz Big Chat stickers</div><div><br /></div><div><blockquote style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 40px; padding: 0px;"><center><img border="0" class="nopin" height="50" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--KlVPeE2PeA/We-DByXuq8I/AAAAAAAAFt0/MPWAQ6F9KrIhIeuLWgW5-uzH8HTkwZmHQCLcBGAs/s1600/Larger-Signature.png" width="160" /></center><center><br /></center></blockquote></div>Carolinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13365299036462149691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23461293.post-77041395775172915982020-06-16T11:39:00.003-04:002020-06-16T11:45:14.792-04:00Every Day Is Another Chance - Art Journal Page<div>Playing in my art journal has become so rewarding and grounding lately!! </div><div><br /></div><div>I decided to join in on Dina Wakley's and Ranger Ink's Show Us Your Media Challenge. Dina has chosen the theme Gratitude and June's prompt is 'I Am Grateful For Second Chances'. </div><div><br /></div><div>This two page spread began with the tag. I had stamped the image and coloured with scribble sticks and then applied a wet scribble stick to stamp to get the water coloured blue dots effect. The tag needed a home so I found some Collage Collectives paper that seemed to be the perfect backdrop for the tag.</div><div><br /></div><div>First I applied gloss sprays through a stencil on the canvas page and then applied the left over spray on the stencil to the opposite page. I cut out a section of the canvas and adhered it along with some strips of the paper so that this page flowed with the tag page. </div><div><br /></div><div>This was my first time using a canvas page in the journal, it took a long time for me to get past my fear of the canvas, lol. So happy with how this turned out. My journalling says "Today and everyday I am grateful for second chances". </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic7DEINbJ2c0ppmS40wWQST2ndLQ8eIpLjiVCZielIOyJ02KXdX1_ti8FF133G7gRCETbibXgTOkrQsUxUIaUQwVqoGYiLQfhqgSN_7bDLnkzj9i1sy70LA_RNEtQOYkY_xJASSw/s1440/F67459C0-D10B-4E4A-BA97-92566F1F8D80.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="625" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic7DEINbJ2c0ppmS40wWQST2ndLQ8eIpLjiVCZielIOyJ02KXdX1_ti8FF133G7gRCETbibXgTOkrQsUxUIaUQwVqoGYiLQfhqgSN_7bDLnkzj9i1sy70LA_RNEtQOYkY_xJASSw/w625-h625/F67459C0-D10B-4E4A-BA97-92566F1F8D80.jpeg" width="625" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GyrShlk8rCU/Xuf5Wo1tpRI/AAAAAAAAGWQ/fo80fSolLBMAoZuiRTfAauyVyWXBCjq8QCK4BGAsYHg/s1440/E0DC5C0C-B7DC-4D5D-BF36-526216D19944.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="500" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GyrShlk8rCU/Xuf5Wo1tpRI/AAAAAAAAGWQ/fo80fSolLBMAoZuiRTfAauyVyWXBCjq8QCK4BGAsYHg/w500-h500/E0DC5C0C-B7DC-4D5D-BF36-526216D19944.jpeg" width="500" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0OqgEKH4MMHP9NMtRN6cr3-RPWLy8u5gAy5zF_S_tdPU2jgd5b3RyIUQvmb10JfYS5t4OfclceRzER4v4MuhIhrehqC6UFiBYiR-IZPUu7r2zStXVaT_Ree1O0ZmLi5ajk54FyQ/s1440/34F2D336-67E9-4899-B235-CD9FBEC4713E.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1440" data-original-width="1440" height="500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0OqgEKH4MMHP9NMtRN6cr3-RPWLy8u5gAy5zF_S_tdPU2jgd5b3RyIUQvmb10JfYS5t4OfclceRzER4v4MuhIhrehqC6UFiBYiR-IZPUu7r2zStXVaT_Ree1O0ZmLi5ajk54FyQ/w500-h500/34F2D336-67E9-4899-B235-CD9FBEC4713E.jpeg" width="500" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Supplies:</div><div><br /></div><div>Dina Wakley products: Face In the Crowd stamp, Positive Women Collage stamp, Collage Collective Vol 1, Ocean Gloss Spray, Cheddar and Sedona paints, Collage Paper Words #2, Scribble Sticks, Media Journal</div><div><br /></div><div>I am entering this in the <a href="https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=20236">Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Sprays and Splashes</a></div><div><br /></div><br /><center><img border="0" class="nopin" height="50" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--KlVPeE2PeA/We-DByXuq8I/AAAAAAAAFt0/MPWAQ6F9KrIhIeuLWgW5-uzH8HTkwZmHQCLcBGAs/s1600/Larger-Signature.png" width="160" /></center>Carolinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13365299036462149691noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23461293.post-87792519346145447692020-06-07T13:30:00.002-04:002020-06-07T13:47:43.973-04:00In a Vanilla World - Dylusions Journal Page<br />
Seeing all the inspiration out there since the Covid 19 lockdowns began has provided so much inspiration!! In particular I've been following Dina Wakley's Daily Demos and Dyan Reaveley's Day by Dy. I am amazed every day at the generosity of their sharing of their time, knowledge and techniques. It is priceless.<br />
<br />
This day last week I was feeling the need to create something bright and bold. So I put down a couple Dylusions paint colours for a background in my small Dylusions journal. I added some stenciling for interest then I cut out these pieces and coloured them with copics and added a sentiment. Some white detailing with a Posca paint pen and that was it!! <br />

This is about having fun with the materials, not over-thinking the process and seeing where it takes you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AcvXbk86cRw/XrncBy9MEuI/AAAAAAAAGUU/2E7kjiLpXz4RQvM-mDSpvVprLmlTFDT-ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/D6B62CAF-E5D4-403D-8333-442488574DCA_1_201_a.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AcvXbk86cRw/XrncBy9MEuI/AAAAAAAAGUU/2E7kjiLpXz4RQvM-mDSpvVprLmlTFDT-ACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/D6B62CAF-E5D4-403D-8333-442488574DCA_1_201_a.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Since it was Mother's Day and my daughter was willing, we did these canvases together. Hers is the peachy flowers, mine is the purple. There is a lot of texture to these flowers. I loved that we spent this time together and that she obliged me and my craftiness. She actually had fun too!<br />

The idea is to journal through your feelings and thoughts on a blank page and then cover it up and focus on positive thoughts. I loved the whole idea of this and plan to do more of it!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I was able to use my new DW gloss sprays and had a lot of fun stencilling (Donna Downey stencils) and collaging. This time I used DW's white printed collage paper. I like it, it's taking some getting used to. When I collage tissue paper I prefer the paper to blend into the background and become invisible so this is a bit different for my liking.<br />

In this lesson we are recording our goals on a journal page - personal and artistic. I used DW scribble sticks and a waterbrush for the colouring and several DW stamps. I love the brightness of the colours in the circles!!<br />
<br />
This was a fun process. A couple of the circles I almost started over, but I persevered and in the end, whatever little flaw I though was there no longer bothered me :)<br />

It's called <a href="https://artfulacademy.com/wellspring2020/" target="_blank">Wellspring 2020 by Artful Academy</a>. In their words - '18 weeks of uplifting, empowering, thought-provoking, life-affirming art lessons themed around mental wellbeing'. What could be more perfect for this time!!<br />
<br />
As part of the prep work we created a journal cover, the lesson was by Alexa Doebler called 'Make Art'. I couldn't decide on a colour scheme so I made two! I loved this sentiment for the front. On the back cover I stamped 'Wellspring 2020' at the bottom. I'm really reealllly looking forward to this course!<br />

<br />
I was feeling restless and wanted to do something but I didn't know what I felt like doing. And I felt this way even after browsing Pinterest and Youtube for inspiration. Finally I saw a video with this background technique (applying paint with a gel press) and decided to give it a try........this page actually came together so fast I didn't even take many progress pictures!<br />
<br />
For the background I decided to apply paint to a 6 x 6 gel press and water it down before pressing it randomly onto the pages. I used Dina Wakely paints Olive, Peacock and Fuchsia (I did not gesso the pages so you really see the texture of the paper). It was quite bold so I toned it down a bit by rolling a brayer with some white paint.<br />
<br />
I have been itching to use some of Dina Wakely's tissue paper girls and decided on this one along with a sentiment that really resonated with me that day. I adhered the tissue paper with matte medium under and over the image.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MivWFKp-Jrc/XpzAusZ5PtI/AAAAAAAAGGw/3jjoXunGD10WOTat8tIOW7PQHsn7lMV5ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/fullsizeoutput_5b30.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1350" data-original-width="1080" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MivWFKp-Jrc/XpzAusZ5PtI/AAAAAAAAGGw/3jjoXunGD10WOTat8tIOW7PQHsn7lMV5ACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/fullsizeoutput_5b30.jpeg" width="512" /></a></div>
<br />
I almost left it alone just with the images adhered, but decided it needed more. I added some black washi tape, some colour to her eyes and cheeks and some paint splatter with the fuchsia. Dina calls it 'the pox' :) And then I thought I was done, lol. Actually I was afraid if I did anything else I might ruin it!!<br />
<br />

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v9Uac1tRc-s/XpzAxhB4B9I/AAAAAAAAGG0/xpIFzJPTxbwbfFD1fZgN9yNJum605BxkwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/fullsizeoutput_5b31.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1350" data-original-width="1080" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v9Uac1tRc-s/XpzAxhB4B9I/AAAAAAAAGG0/xpIFzJPTxbwbfFD1fZgN9yNJum605BxkwCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/fullsizeoutput_5b31.jpeg" width="512" /></a></div>
<br />
But as much as I loved the pop of black, the more I looked at it, it seemed too harsh against the background and just felt undone. So I left it for a few days. I finally decided to add Umber paint (diluted with white paint) through a stencil, some coloured washi tape and then a little more wash of white over everything. Some Frayed Burlap and Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges for a border, white gel pen strokes over the face and the washi tape and I was done - for sure done!! Love it!!<br />
