Happy 17th Birthday

This is my daughter's card for her 17th birthday card!!  The camera was perfect for her since she's quite the little photographer.  I used a bunch of new stuff on here.  The 17 numbers were inked up with my new Delicata Golden Glitz Pigment Ink by Tsunkineko.  It's a metalic ink and there was no embossing required.  You can see in the second photo how rich and metalic the colour is, LOVE it!!

The papers and embellishments (camera and tag) are from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes collections.

I used some of my new Heidi Swapp Gold Lame Color Shine as well on the papers.  The alpaphabet stamp set and inside sentiment are from Paper Smooches.

I'm entering this in the Challenge at Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge Blog this week - Anything Goes.

Happy Birthday - Simon Style

Sharing my most recent birthday card today, which is for my girlfriend.  Simon Says Stamps had a 20% off sale a little while back, so I took advantage and got the Birthday Balloon package which consists of the Balloons and Happy Birthday dies and the Birthday Balloons and Birthday Messages stamp sets.  Love, Love, Love these :)

I was inspired by this card, loved the sparkle added to the balloon and I just happened to have some of that paper :)  When I first saw this particular paper (in my Simon Says Card Kit) I wasn't too impressed, but when I saw the sparkle added then I was impressed.  And I really wanted to try the angled panel on my card so this is what I came up with.  Another technicque I've recently learned is that you can use some Multi Medium Matte glue on the baker's twine to hold it in a shape that you want.  I didn't have any yet (it's been ordered) so instead I put a tiny dot of glue where the twine touched the paper and adhered that piece of the twine, the rest just lays in it's natural shape (see example here).

You'll notice I used a small wooden star above the i in the 'Birthday' die - that's because I lost the dot, lol, so that led to a couple more stars which led to some enamel dots.  Love how it turned out.

I'm entering this in Simon's Wednesday Challenge - You've Gotta Have Friends since this card is for my all time bestie :) and Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes.

Congratulations

I can't believe it's here - my stepson is graduating from highschool!! Next year, it's my daughter's turn, where has the time gone??

This is the card I made for him, hope it doesn't come across as 'halloweeny'.  Orange and black are the school colours.  I love the little grad cap, I found that at the Silhouette Online Store.  Loved that you could cut the tassle in a separate colour.  Can you tell I popped it up a bit?

I used my new stencil from Simon Says May 2014 card kit for the stars, which is just what they're looking for in Simon's Wednesday Challenge 'Stencil It'.  I layed it over the paper and sponged on some grey ink which I also went over with some clear Wink of Stella.  I tried to get a good picture of the sparkle on the stars but it just wouldn't show up right.  I used this week's Sketch #314 from Sketch Saturday.  Rather than adding any more chevron to the card I stuck with the chevron pattern in the paper and added a couple antiqued brads to the corners.

Paper:  MME Stella and Rose Mabel, SU Basic Grey
Ink:  StazOn Jet Black, SU Basic Grey

Guiding Hand

I was inspired to create my Father's Day Card by a card I saw on a friend's blog, (can't find the original post though). She had used the wise owl from CTMH's Pair-a-Phrase stamp set, I used the compass.  The phrase was perfect.  I used a watercolour brush to add a bit of ink to the compass.  The brass photo frames were an after thought, love when you find things in your stash and they're just the perfect thing to complete your project :)

The Challenge over at the Simon Wednesday Challenge is Father's Day/Masculine and they are highlighting ranger products - that would by my edge distresser.

Stamps:  CTMH pair-a-Phrase
Paper:  7Gypsies Camden, SU Crumb Cake
Ink:  CTMH Chocolate
Accessories:  CTMH Antiqued Copper Mini-Medley, Labels Three Nestabilities, Tim Holtz edge distresser, SU watercolour brush
