Know In Your Heart That You Are Loved - Tim's Tags February 2015

After I made my tag yesterday, I kept on going and this time created a tag for the 12 Tags of 2015 - February.  It is a love theme, however I didn't want to use a heart or red.  I really didn't want it be for Valentines so went I with a romantic vintage theme with softer colours.  I can't wait to make another :)

I had a lot of fun using the ephemera and collaging the tag.  You should feel the texture and weight of this tag!!  I loved using the Picket Fence Distress Paint to create a shabby effect on the collage and on the metal word band and arrow.  I couldn't wait for the step when I outlined each piece with the Black Soot Distress Marker.  And of course the final touch was to spritz some Black Soot Distress Marker over the whole tag.

Notice the little number 14 on the tag?  I ended up changing my mind and adding the 5 cents instead.  The edges of the tag were sanded and so were some of the layers.  I also used some tissue tape along the edge of the tag.  I used Tumbled Glass and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks to colour a moth from the ephemera pack and then applied a coat of Glue & Seal and after that was dry I applied Distress Stickles.  It was popped up over the Industrious Sticker frame.

Embrace the Creative Journey - Tim's Tags

This weekend I felt like playing with my Tim Holtz and Ranger stuff.  What better way than to make a tag.  I do follow Tim's blog and have long admired his 12 Tags of Christmas and the yearly 12 Tags as well.  I came across one for September 2013 and decided what the hay!!  Let's give it a try!!  At the bottom of my post is Tim's tag.

So here is my take.  The techniques highlighted were distress stains and paint resist and stencils.  I love the bold colours of the stains on this tag.  I also like the vintage photo ink through the stencils.  And check out the ribbon!!!  How cool that it matches :)  I pretty much love everything about the tag - the embossing paste, the black archival ink stamped butterflies, the word chatter outlined with the black soot distress marker, the rub-on!!

I did miss one step in the beginning and that was to include a metallic stain when adding the initial colours to the tag.  So I didn't get that shimmer that I saw in his tag.  So, after all was done I lightly misted mine with Pewter Perfect Pearls Mist.  And there you have it.  I'm working on my next tag already!!

Jar of Hearts

Surprisingly my daughter asked me for help in creating 'A Jar of Hearts' for her boyfriend.  She wanted to add 100 things she loved about him to the jar - 2 days before she planned to give it to him!!  So at first I was like okay - I grabbed all my punches, dies, papers and stamps that were love or valentine related, some spritzes and sprays and paints and began creating.  I tried to do something different on each one.  That got me to about 40 something and then I handed the job over to her lol.

Here is the jar that I made for the hearts - I just used my glue gun to add the paper and ribbon/twine to the lid.  Once they were all done, the jar was pretty full.

@cgirlonmoon

Hello!!  Here is another 'selfie' layout.  I worked on this at my friend Donna's Crop.  Again I had challenged myself to only use the products included in the kit.  This kit was in the Welcome Bag from the Scrapbook and Cards Today Crop & Create event last October.  I took my inspiration from the butterfly paper and that awesome @ clip.  It took a while, but eventually I decided on the @cgirlonmoon for my title since that is my "handle" lol.  And I'm glad I did, I LOVE how it turned out.

I think that will be it for the selfies :)  But you never know..........

Sealed With A Kiss

Here is the card I made for my Hubby for Valentine's Day this year.  I had envisioned this one in my mind since I received the Warmth of Winter stamp set from Unity.  I coloured the foxes with distress markers and a watercolour brush.  I masked them and stamped the woodgrain background with second generation Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  I toyed with the idea of creating the hearts through the stencil by rubbing distress ink through it, but that was before I decided to to use the woodgrain background.  Then I thought of using clear embossing paste tinted with colour and I love how it turned out.  The sentiments are from Unity's January KOM - Magic of Beginnings.  The inside reads 'The Best is Yet to Be'.

I'm entering my card in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - All Creatures Great and Small and The Pink Elephant Challenge #285 - Be My Valentine

I'm also entering in Unity's Friends With Flair post this Friday.
